I have 10 weeks’ solid training ahead of me, more than enough to prepare for this fight

“At the start, it was meant to be in Puerto Rico, then it was here and then there were a few dates that all fell though,” explained Burns.

“I was originally training to fight on the 17 July, but obviously it was moved forward. But the date is set now and I have something to train for.

Amir Khan Vs Marco Antonio Barrera 14 March at Manchester’s MEN Arena

January 28, 2009 by goodfellas · Leave a Comment

It has been annouched that Amir Khan will meet seven-time world champion and Mexican legend Marco Antonio Barrera on 14 March at Manchester’s MEN Arena. The 34-year-old Mexican is a former champion at three weights and has won 64 of his 71 fights. Even though Barrera has only recently moved up to this weight and look less than impressive in this previous fight. This could proved a very hard fight for Khan. Khan showed against Fagen that his gym work with Roach in the US has paid off, with a higher guard and tighter defense alround. But Barrera, even a 34 year old one is no Fagen, and if former featherweight Micheal Gomez was able to trouble Khan, then surely we can expect Barrera to really test Khan if he is able to deal with Amir’s quick and powerful attacks.
